Whooohooo!!! It’s almost the weekend – yeeeha!! Work was good craic, mainly as everyone was in such a good mood due to having 2 days off this weekend – they’re giving us Monday off as last Monday was the Otago local holiday, but the factory had to work due to the volume of apples needing packed, so they said that this Monday could be a day off – nice time to start at the packhouse!
After work, it was a race to the shower – there are two showers outside our room but it’s always busy after work so you have to time it just right. Tonight, we’re off to see ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ at the cinema. Apparently, they show a new film every…..2 weeks…..hahaha - what a hoot! This is proper small town chat isn’t it!? The film is pretty long and a bit bizarre but I enjoyed – not sure about Dave though!
We head back to the hostel and catch up with Tom, Kamila and Aaron. They’re pretty well oiled, enjoying a crate of beer and listening to tunes outside the kitchen! I can’t be bothered to play catch up and I’m pretty damn shattered, so leave Dave to join the party while I hit the sack.
Well, Dave rocks up after 1am and is pretty hammered. He starts telling me about the night out – there are 2 pubs in this village and a group of them went to the one just next door. It sounded like a fun-filled night with Kamila slapping everyone’s arses! They then all went back to the hostel where Pat made an appearance….in her dressing gown……she wasn’t happy that the lads were in the kitchen and wanted to continue their drinking. Apparently, she started harping on about the evils of alcohol and how a Chinese girl died a few years ago due to downing a bottle of vodka, thinking it was water…….what on earth?! Who does that!??! Anyhoo, Dave scarpered after that ‘telling off’ and left Tom and Aaron to the lectures. I find it hilarious that they’re almost 30 and getting told about the evils of drink!! Oh man, she is something else!
