Sun 10th May - Ta Ta Roxburgh

Wow! Today’s the day we get our asses out of Roxburgh! It’s finally here and we can holiday again – whooohoo!! I look outside and……..it’s been SNOWING!!! Man, it’s freezing!!! Dave and Aaron are a little worse for wear and stinking of drink – as ever!! John comes down and says his final farewells to us. He’s so nice and said he wishes he could’ve spent more time with us, taking us on hill walks and stuff. Bless him! He even says we don’t look like we’ve spent the past 2 months working hard! Haha!

Rachel baked us cakes, bread and cookies! How nice! We then have to say our good byes and I start blubbing when I hug everyone…..man, what a geek I am! It’s weird that we’ve only known these people for a couple of months, but we’ve lived and worked with them everyday for the past 2 months so of course, it’s going to be upsetting when we all finally leave. I’m sure I saw a tear in Aaron and Dave’s eye…..

We got the 10am bus and just as it was pulling away, we saw Louise and Yammi running beside the bus! Aww man, I felt so bad that we didn’t go and say bye, but we had so much to do this morning. Bless them; they had even baked us cookies with our initials on them!

It’s an uber long bus journey, stopping off at various places along the way – even places that we stopped at last year! We eventually get to Rainy Christchurch after 6pm and check into Base hostel at the cathedral. We’re in a room with 3 geordie lads who’ve just arrived from Australia. We meet the lovely Wiebka, Peter and Alban down in the bar after 9pm and we’re all squealing away as we’re all free from the apples! We have a few but everyone is so tired it isn’t a late one and we end up in Burger King for a late night snack!
